I have been mounting birds for 16 years now but have recently converted to tohickon aspheric eyes for all my ducks and have noticed that there are differences in them from the Van Dykes that I used for so long. One distressing thing is that they scratch up and get nicked too easily like the glass is cheap.Another is that there are not as many sizes and colors, if you luck out and dont scrape them against anything, they do look good however.

But your birds don't look like circus toys anymore...I've used both and won't buy Van Dyke eyes anymore. The tohickon eye is so much more realistic looking. It is easier to get the right angles for me and I haven't noticed any of the problems you have had with sizes, colors or chips. Have you checked out buying from tohickon directly?I know some suppliers simply don't carry the full line.
