Can someone tell me what color I should paint the bill of a Mallard Drake? I saw in Van Dykes a Mallard Orange for the feet but not sure about which yellow I should use.......thanks!

Mallard Drakes range in colors widely, but most books say to start with a Flesh base coat, then Yellow Ochre, then highlight with a brighter yellow if desired, add some green, brown, and black highlights as desired and do the nail and nostril holes black. Your best reference is a picture of the bird in hand right after it was killed.

Thanks for the tip..... Again, this is my first bird (or anything) to mount so it may turn out looking like the "Froot Loop" bird but that's ok it's not a customer bird so...... guess you gotta start somewhere!
