i have a metal grinder that uses a round stone, i was wondering if i bought a wire wheel for it, would it work of a flesher, or would it have to many rpms?

No

Aside from too fast an rpm, it has much too much horsepower and will likely tear your birds to pieces. The fractional horsepower models allow you that fudge factor and they sometimes still wrap your birds around the spindle.

It depends

You question was "can" you put a wire brush on a regular grinder and use it - my answer would be yes - you can absolutely do that - buy the brush, take the stone off and put it on. Should you do this is another question entirely. My issue with the grinder is speed rather than power. The rpm of a regular gringer is way too fast for my preferences. You would also have to fabricate a grease catching mechanism or end up covering yourself and the walls. If you have never used a wire wheel, I would discourage doing what you propose for the reasons George states. To fast + inexperience = holes in the skin. Go slow and you will do well. Good Luck

I made one......

out of a grinder and it "will" work but as george said it will rip one up in a hurry if you're not careful. I ruined my first two birds before I got one to work for me. I made a sheet metal arch around mine to catch the fat but I think you would be much better off with one from a supply company. I didn't want to spend too much $ on one until I tried the grinder but I will eventually get a factory flesher in the future. Just BE CAREFUL with the grinder...!
