I just had my dryer burn out and was wondering if I disconected the blower motor could I take out the fins and use it to tumble birds? I just started doing birds and have seen what a difference tumbling can make. What do you think, can it be done and what would be the best media for upland, ducks and geese?

There's dozens of this same post under that SEARCH icon to the left. Just type in "Convert dryer into Tumbler".
Now, MY OPINION, if you want a real tumbler, buy one. If you charged someone for what it will take you to convert one and weigh it against how it works versus a real tumbler, you'll be big money ahead to buy a real tumbler instead. If you're serious about birds and you're serious about taxidermy, be serious with the tools you use.
Check the archives for more information. Yes it can be done. But you need to seal up all the holes so your medium will not get out. But a dryer turns pretty fast for birds. My tumbler turns about 12 rpm. Not sure what the rotations on a dryer are.

When I first started out I used a dryer for a tumbler. Get a real tumbler from the get go - you will end up getting one eventually so why not do it now?
I have a cloths dryer now, and will upgrade to the proper tooling as soon as I can get the tax money back. Tried and true tools are better then second best u-make-em's.
