Last year I donated a mounted taxidermy specimen of a Rough-legged Hawk to a university where my now deceased father taught biology.
I would like to learn the estimated value of the hawk in order to declare it a charitable tax deduction. Another biology professor declared it a "fine specimen". It's feet are on a branch and the wings are up swept - like if you raised your arms almost straight over your head. I think I still have a picture of it somewhere, if the details of the mounting impact a value estimate.
Thanks very much! Gloria

Ive donated a few Owl moundting services to the local Fish and Wildlife areas so im using those as approximate similars. I would say that I didn't spend musch more time than a nice duck and less time than a Goose, so I would just charge your high end duck price. Just my thought. Hope I helped.
here is a UK e-bay auction you can watch (Pound Sterling ~50% more than US Dollar): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=67212&item=5567146713&rd=1
Perhaps you can declare the cost to do a similar mount today-- .
The U S FWS would place the value at 1 to five years in jail.you can mount it for some one with the proper permits and charge for the taxidermy services. there is no cash value on the bird its self...not even one dime...my guess is you can only place a value on your service as a taxidermist, not a protected speices of hawk. hope this helps.
