I have had alot of trouble puting movement (life) in my pheasant mounts. It seems a little complicated for a simple minded person such as myself. Femur, tibia, feet positions have thrown me for a loop. I was going to come here and ask for help but I've been trying to locate good reference instead.
Watching pheasant out my window with binoculars wasn't working. Then while watching Looney Toons with my three year child I discovered lots of reference in cartoon characters, I don't know his name but it's the rooster. We have watched Chicken Run several times and I'm going to watch Jurassic Park again because I think there's going to be good reference there as well. Just a tip for anybody having the problems that I'm having.

Some good ones there.
Thanks I'll check it out.
forgot the s wolf man. lol
Thanks for the S secret. I was a little lost but now I'm found.
are you wiring your leg from the hip or down at the knee. You will get better movement and much more realistic poses from your birds if you wire at the hip. Dave Luke covers this really well in Breakthrough issue 46.
Not exactly sure.I start the wire at the knee down the tibia thru the ankle out the bottom of pad.On the second leg I do the same but take the wire thru the 3rd digit to obtain a walking pose or taking a step so to speak. Then I insert the wire thru the mannekin where I think it needs to be to get the pose I'm after,(problems with that).I believe the forward or stepping leg goes a little forward and down from the other on the mannekin.I just couldn't get a 12 ga wire thru so used a 14 ga but the mounts aren't as stable. I haven't figured out how to remove the tendons yet, and don't know if I want to,(working on that).
Haven't found anything in the archieves, but maybe not looking hard enough. If I sound a little lost that's because I am.
I will order issue 46 first thing in the morning. Thanks once again.
Just ordered issue 46.
