Bird eyes using the skull?

Any idea how to make the eyes on a bird look good when using the skull...I ask because I skin to the bottom of the skull and neck and clean out the eye sockets. This seems to leave the eye space smaller than the eye to be used..Any suggestions? Thanks for all!

I use the real skul quite often... and have never run into any adverse problems.

Make sure and measure the eye you take out.. that is the correct size eye to go back, regardless of what any reference manuals say.

If so maybe your taking that cartilaginous membrane attached to the skull above the eye off. You need this as a reference point for setting the glass eye. It doesn't rot if cleaned.

second cut and clean skull

Are you not making a second incision on the head and totally removing
the brains eyeballs and flesh in the bill and beak?
The only thing that needs to remain is the top of the skull

make a clay head , pull the skin over the new head and mark where the eye holes in the skin align
bingo that's where you need to put in the eyes # 10 red will work
