I am doing my 1st turkey strutting and wondered if I pinned some poly batting (filter material) on the back and breast with some hide paste on top,(all under the skin of course), will this hold the feathers up and shingled or has anyone tried something like this?

The "secret" to a good strutting bird is the form. I'd suggest the Calley Morris form and a video of his seminar. I understand he uses caulk now, but he stresses pulling the feather forward instead of backwards and back brushing them daily to achieve that shingled look.
