I have a turkey in my shop that was skinned by another taxidermist (long story). I use the real legs on all my turkeys and 8 gauge wire for support. A big part of the leg support is the femur bone. On this particular bird, the femur bone has been cut off on both legs, just above the knee cap. The legs are still attached. I'm not sure how the other taxidermist supports the legs but I'm sure my 8 gauge wire, alone, will not be enough. This is a strutt pose. What would you all suggest using for support? Was he going to use artificial thighs?

use a buckeye turkey form. they have the thighs molded in. they are very easy to use and very sturdy.
.....are also nice to use. Comes with drum sticks as well.
Anthony Sddies are nice to use as well.
I remove the femur on all my strut and standing mounts. I dill a hole down thru the leg then use 3/8" threaded rod. I sharpen the rod and put it in the drill and drill it thru the leg and out the center toe. I then bondo the rod into one of the Van Dykes turkey drumsticks. Foam the drumsticks onto the body.
