Seting up my bird flesher?

Submitted by Jack F on 4/21/05 at 4:59 PM. ( ) 12.152.154.31

I just received my new Van Dykes bird flesher and so far I like what I see. I am wondering if I should notch out the bench underneath the flesher where it sits. I would think this would give me more room under the wheel for fleshing turkeys and geese. If there is enough room already then I will leave well enough alone. But it wouldn't take much to notch it out. Anyone done this? or do you guys just use it on the top of your bench with out trouble of not enough space? Thanks Jack F

you need more space underneath the flesher.A notch would work. My flesher has a bracket to hang it on the wall or ican bolt it on a flang and put it in an extra mounting stand. either way i find that an adjustable highth hospital type tray underneath makes a good table to suppurt your skin ,rest your forearms on

I got R done

Thanks Marty for the tip. I took a piece of 2x3 and secured it to my bird bench. I hung the front of the flesher over the edge and secured it to the board with a hitch pin. This way I can remove it and clear the space when not in use. Thanks again. Jack F
