Turkey Fan Mount

I guess, I should have read this forum, before I started my mount. I already did everything I need to do (ie., clean meat and fat, positioned, cured and bondo'd). What I did forget to do was wash the feathers. There are some area's of seperation on some feather's. Especially on the tips. Can I still wash them? Also I have one damaged feather. It is cracked can I repair it. I tried hiding it behind another one. No luck. Any suggestion's would be a help.

I have only done a couple of fan mount's , but I don't think you need to wash the tail feathers (I didn't wash mine.) Unless of course there's blood or something really causing distortion in the feathers I think you'll be okay.
As far as the seperation goes get your thumb and index finger and LIGHTLY pinch the feather as you run it up the quill or anywhere there is seperation. Should put things back in place. Hard to explain this.
If the quill is cracked you can cut it off and put a small wire or pin in the quill with super glue. Super glue other end and slide feather back together again.
You might also check the archives for other methods, the search icon on left. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks, for the tips. I won't wash the feathers, then. And I like the wire idea.
