Don't even think about starting until you have this book and have read it. You will just waste a pertty bird.

You picked a difficult bird for your first attempt.

You would be better off trying a pheasant, after you have read the book Sarah told you about.
Good luck.

Don't start with the wood duck

You're better off starting with a different bird. If you want to do a duck, try to get a diver.

Go to the library and look for a book called "Gamebird Taxidermy" by Frank Newmyer and Roger Schroeder. Very good detail both in word and pictures of Frank mounting a wood duck.

Woodies are a Terror!

Mark,
Don't try a Woodie for your first bird! The Woodie is one of the toughest for a beginner. "Been there done That" - Mine ended up in the Trash. Work on a few Divers first. Buffleheads,
Ruddies, Rinbgnecks and Scaup are good ones. Scoters or Eiders are even better! Sarah and KS gave you good advice!
Best of luck - Hang in there - This stuff is very difficult at first!
