I'm doing my first turkey, and I was wondering how is the best way to get all the ver slimy matter that is attached the the upper chest area? Also, If I keep wrinkling the feathers like I do, what is the best solution to rinse it in and the best way to tumble if no professional tumbler is available? I really appreciate the help that is provided on here.

Might as well put it on the same post. Does anybody know of a good instructional turkey video, preferably flying? I've looked at several but some personal opinoins would be great. Thanks.

use a wire brush or a wire wheel to flesh with. you can use a large cardboard box to tumble in. put sawdust in it, tape it shut and roll around on the floor for awhile. kinda crude but works if you dont have a tumbler.

Thanks alot. Would it be senseless to tumble it without rinsing it, or would it help make the feathers look and smell better if I didn't rinse. I must say that I'm kind of nervous about rinsing it, because I'm not very confident that I can get them to look right again.

Van Dykes has great videos. Breakthrough and Taxidermy Today have some good articles in back issue.
