Freezing turkey skin (already did orange search button)

Hello gals and guys, I have a gobbler I shot and I skinned him right away and sent his head off for freezedrying. The skin is in my freezer right now. My question is this: I'm going on tour with my band, and I have no way of knowing how long it will be until I can get to mounting the turkey. If it was a duck or some other small bird, I'd just freeze it in a block of ice. I've had great success in doing so in the past. However, turkeys are huge, and I cant just throw my turkey in a ziploc and freeze it in water obviously, because of the sheer size of the bird. I thought of filling my deep freezer with water, throwing the thawed skin in the freezer full of water and that way the turkey skin will be frozen in a large block of ice. My freezer is not the frost free kind and I did not flesh, wheel or wash the turkey. It's just skinned. Does anybody have any opinion on whether or not this will work, or any better way to keep the skin and legs/feet from freezer burn? Any advice is sincerely appreciated and welcome. Thank you.

I skin my turkeys when they come in to save freezer space. Sometimes it is 6 to 8 months before I get to them. Theyve always been ok. Steve
