i got a bunch of caulk on feathers on a teal and i am having a heck of a time getting it out. Any hints will be very helpful.....(other than sew all the holes)

I would suggest closing up the holes where you are most likely going to have caulk coming through, such as the wings and neck area. You can use super glue to close up shot size holes. I tend to make sure that all my holes in these areas are sealed up. Now to remove caulk that has come through already. Wipe away as much as you can wet, and allow the remainder to dry. After it has dried, you can use mineral spirits with a fine paint brush or cotton swab and remove the caulk. This will work, but you may have to allow the mineral spirits to soak awhile, depending on how much excess caulk you have.
throw borax on it right way and work it out. don't get it wet. that's the best i've found. good luck
While attending the most recent state convention here, i watched two diffent seminars where they did not put any caulk at all in the bird. I have mounted about 10 since then without caulk and all has gone well. I am not saying change your ways, but if you have a wing full of holes, that can be an alternative to go without caulk.
