If you've never mounted anything before, I recommend you get a video instead of the manual. You will thank me. As far as suppliers, click on the "Suppliers" link at the top of the page and any of them are fine. Yes, you will need paints. If you don't have an airbrush, get some of the acrylic paints from Wal-Mart or craft stores. For the mallard, you will need yellow, black, and orange. You can paint the bill and legs with an artists brush once they are dry. Coat them with Krylon Matte finish when you are done.
It's a good move you're making actually spending some money for a good source of knowledge. It's money well spent. Keep in mind that that ol' duck's gonna have a lot of fat on him, that has to come off! Do not skimp on getting that fat off of him. My two cents worth of advice: 1)Don't get frustrated with what you're working on too bad. The freezers my best friend. When I used to get frustrated really bad, I'd stick that thing in the freezer and go have a Cheerwine or something. By then I'd be ready to hit it hard again.2) Don't get overwhelmed with all the different products on the market. They all do pretty much the same thing, you'll learn which ones do thier job the best along the way.3) Go into this thing with plenty of money. Don't try to get by using tools that weren't supposed to be used for what you're using them for. Instead of using pliers, go ahead spend the extra money and get a tail puller. Instead of using a knife or regular scissor to get all the fat off of that duck, spend the money and get curved scissors or a wire wheel. 4) Most importantly, go into this thing ALWAYS WILLING TO LEARN AND DO RESEARCH, because you'll never quit learning, and research on what is the best method is always necessary. Good luck!
What video should I purchase?
Any tips on videos that have gone well for you
Thanks for the Info again.
dont look at the bird halfway through the mounting process and think that you have ruined it. especially after washing the skin, amazingly they come back to life if you follow the correct steps. And really work on removing all of the fat if you want a video instead of a book for instruction purposes, just get one that shows how to do birds.
