i am in the process of doing a turkey rug and i was wondering if i should tan the turkey hide or if salting it was the way to go

The way we do the rugs is as follow:
1. run wire wheel over skin to get ALL meat and fat off.
2. soak in fuel for 20-30 minutes
3. wash with dawn soap
4. tumble in corn cob for 15-20 minutes
5. blow dry feathers
6. cover skin in borax
7. set feathers in position and let dry.
(tail is not included in 2-5 steps)
Isn't it number 3 then 2, wash then soak in fuel?
what type of fuel do i soak it in?
Yes you soak in fuel then wash in dawn. Ryan, we use coleman fuel, or whatever brand Wal Mart has in stock.
its my first attempt at one hope it turns out thanks again
