I am going to be mounting a hen turkey for my decoy next spring season and I already have a way to waterproof the head but how do I waterproof the turkey feathers. Or do I just not use the real turkey on rainy days.

I've kicked this idea around with deer and turkey and it dosen't really make sense to try it. I've had mature toms come within 10 feet from my decoy. Set up your decoy 10 yards from you and you have a nice shot! Same with my doe decoy...all my decoys are flambeau or feather flex (you know the cheap ones)
I've been using mounted hens for 4-5 yrs now, and they're still in great shape. If they get wet you just let them dry out and they're as good as new. Actually if they do get wet it's a good time to groom them....
How did you water proof the head.
Rob
Use a replica head and put a matte finish over it when done
