Your work is improving, Dave, and it always will when you seek criticism. Are you injecting the feet? It's hard to tell in those pictures, but the toes look kind of shriveled to me. Also, your feathers are a little rough. Look at some reference pictures of Goldeneyes, and you'll see that the breast feathers are very smooth. You might want to spend some more time backbrushing them and positioning them to smooth them out. Those are the main things that I see. Keep up the good work.

Backbrushing the feathers. I'm not clear on this. could you please explain?

Take your feather adjuster (pin, dental pick, whatever) and rake it along the feathers backwards. This will lift them up so that they fall in place. You probably do this already and just don't know the term. I hope that helps.
