Okay! How many times must a guy stab his hand with a wire while pushing it through a turkey wing before he learns his lesson? My wife claims it should only take twice since I did it for the second time today. Is two the quota or should I be prepared for another time or two?

I think two times a year is the max . Your already over par . Rick
Invariably, when you stick yourself once during a day, you're more likely to have a curtain call before the day is out. I think there's some law stating that requirement someplace. Usually after the second one, however, the bird goes in the freezer for the rest of the day cause I'm not interested in threefers.
I took a sharpened wire the same gauge as the wire I'll be running through my form whether it be a turkey, duck or goose. I take the straight wire (enough length to go through my form) and put it in my cordless drill, and drill through the form, making a "pre-hole". The actual wire you'll be running will usually come straight through the hole you drilled. I also on tough forms such as turkeys take steel wool and polish the wire I'll actually running. Sounds like a lot of work, but you've got to try it. Especially on the heavy gauge wire used to suspend an "in-flight" bird.
