spin cycle question

I just bought a new washer for the house and decided to keep the old one and put it in my shop. I have read that some of you guy's use them. my questions are: how long do you spin them for; is there a special way they need to be put in; and do you leave the agitator in or take it out? Any info on this process would be great.
thanks

Leave the agitator in

That's the shaft drive of the mechanism and to remove it often leads to grease splatter. Just put the hide or bird in and turn on th espin cycle. I usually let it run its full cycle as the hide/feathers are only compressed up against the side of the tub anyway

another tip

I place the cape nose first into the spin direction. So the water runs off with the grain of the hair in a natural direction. I lay it in along the wall side on the bottom, stretched out straight; I do not just throw in like wet cloths. I only need to spin about 3 or 4 minutes.
Works for me.

I use a short incision on deer, and simply put the cape down over the agitator and spin, This also stretches the cape sowmwhat.
