I've had a Wood Duck taxidermy for over 20 years and the left wing has fallen off in one whole piece. What's the best way to reattach it?

Glue, Wire, Pins, Sew.

You pick. Just wondering... Why did it fall off? Joe

Open(flying)or closed(standing)wing mount? Is there a wire sticking out? Do you have a hot glue gun? It can be reattached by glueing and pinning depending on what you have.

It is a standing mount. I do not see or feel any pins. I do not see any traces of glue. Are you talking about using a straight pin? The "why did it fall off" question I can't answer, it just fell off. Therefore, I wonder if perhaps it was glue of some type that just got old?

Appreciate comments very much. Thanks!

Cheap fix

If you can get a wire coat hanger, hot glue or krazy/superglue/instant or 2 minute epoxy, and a wire cutter you can fix it. Cut a straight length of the coat hanger about six inches long.Cut on a diagonal so you have a sharp point at each end. Insert half into the wing lengthwise. Insert the other half into the bird where it looks good. Get your glue ready. Bend the wire to almost be snug. Now put some glue where it can't be seen or run onto feathers. Then pressure the wing in snug. Smooth out feathers and you may be good for another 20 years. This is just one of many ways to fix it.

to wire the wings on a standing bird. They just arent very strong without it. Filling the wings with liquid nails is also a sure fire way to keep this from happenning.

You have some good advise above.....Good Luck
