Supporting Turkey

Which is a better way to support a turkey in a crate. Foam peanuts or wire. I would think the foam would rough up the feathers to much but I dont know how you would support it with wires. I read in the achives about using the foam but theres not much in there for the wire idea. Must be a good reason for that.

Thanks
Chuck

Use wire to keep the turkey where you want it... For added protection, cover the bird with a plastic garbage bag and fill the crate w/ foam peanuts.

The wire will work alone if you use a sturdy cardboard box

Calley Morris ships al his birds with only wires supporting it. He builds a thin framed wooden crate that fits inside a box and then skewers the turkey into place once the base is screwed to the crate.
