Haha. About Duck Calls

Yea. This has nothing to do with tacidermy but...

I am pretty new to calling ducks.

But I was wondering if people know a good call for beginners to use?

I was thinking about the PRIMOS Special Edition Original Wench.

Thanks for the help.

I would probably go with primos or knight and Hale, but for a beginner stick with a single reed. its a lot easier to learn with than a double reed. practice makes perfect

Haydel, Clear plastic

I've used many and found those clear plastic ones the best.
Lately I haven't been doing any calling at all. Those motion decoys bring them in pronto and there are so many ducks on the Atlantic flyway now.

There are many types of calls depending on where you are hunting. I make several types with different volumes and pitches. These are all custom calls, however, a good call for the beginner would be a Glyn Scoby type call. Good luck, J.Cart

Double reeds are no better than single, it is just a selling gimmick.

The DR-85 is by far the best double reed duck call on the market. Practice, practice, practice!

Rich-N-Tone

I have been using Butch Richenback Rich-N-Tone calls for years and love them. You can wind them up to get the birds attention and bring them way day to sound like one lonely hen mallard. I have a double and a single reed. I just depends on what sound the birds like that day. The single reed cant get as low and the double but its close. They both are just as easy to blow. You can spend anywhere fron $20 to $150 if you want. I have used the signature series and they sound no better or worse than the $20 call. Mach's Prairie Wings has the bes prices and selection. www.mackspw.com You can learn more about the calls at www.rntcalls.com. Good luck and good hunting
