Submitted by Richard on 7/11/05 at 5:42 PM. ( krazydreamer333@aol.com ) 172.157.203.215

I have shot 3 in my life,2 hens ,1 drake, so pretty rare around here.
I can't find a outfitter that gets a lot of these so does anybody out there get alot of these birds? If so what state do you live in?
Thanks a lot,
Richard

That is one of the few ducks that we kill in Ga regularly.

Come December take your pick. Not many hunters waste a shell on these birds. So you,ll find them swimming in every decoy spread.

In DA-UP

Gifted Hoodies?

You guys that get a bunch ought to save a half a dozen or more each and then you can help those throughout the country that need them for your collection. I get a lot of requests for those too and I don't get many. As you know, I've gifted a lot of birds and it's legal to have the recieptient pay postage only. Postage on 1 hooded Merganser express mail is about $23.80 and 1 to 2 day delivery. The PO. even has a box for express mail that is free. Pack newspapers, the bird, and a "gift" note with your hunting info on one of those yellow tags on the bird and you can help a fellow taxidermist with his collection. too..

Just a suggestion. Bob. Fresno CA (559) 269-3336

I've got a couple of ponds that fill up with them every season. They have a bad reputation when it comes to palatability so most hunters pass them up (and there not even considered as part of the normal daily bag limit). Anyway, I just watch and study these, but would be glad put you on them (the limit on the Hoodies is one per day in AL). I think if there just hunted once or twice and then left alone, they should continue frequenting the ponds.
