What flavor do you Dawn users like? Do you prefer apple scent, orange scent or something in a lovely spingtime bouquet scent? Seriouslly, just wondering if anyone has ever had any adverse effects from certain varieties (God knows there are 6 billion to choose from). I went to get some anti-bacterial Dawn and couldn't find anything but scented/dyed ones and it made me wonder if any "variety" was better or worse than the others.
Thanks,
Davey J

I think they're all about the same, but I use the good ole original blue one :) I've used a few of the others, and had no adverse affects, but found that it's cheaper to buy a huge bottle of the original one from Sam's Club or Costco. I'm guessing that you're degreasing skulls?

....I was asking in reference to waterfowl skins.

actually.. there have been two instances where I have had the Blue Dawn lightly tint a snow goose to a light blue... luckily.. when the bird was dried it wasn't noticeable, but I do know that there was an ever so slight residual blue cast. Hasn't really stopped me from using it.
I picked up a bottle of the new dawn with bleach alternative in it today to see what that does on white birds.. Gonna try it tomorrow.

i really like the apple scent antibacterial soap. really gives a fresh smell to it!
Ivory liquid, old and new formulas that are clear, work just as good as colored varieties. Stay away from the yellow varieties as they can impart a yellow color to white birds also. Personally I think since people recommend dawn so much, that the herd follows the advice without looking into the implications.
...doesn't even come close to Dawn in it's ability to cut grease. In fact, no other dishwashing detergent comes close. Try washing some greasy dishes by hand with both and you'll see what I mean...
because it has been proven to work
if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I'm washing a bird skin. The harsher a detergent is, the higher the liklihood of doing damage to the specimen. Why don't you folks all use Tide detergent - its' lots stronger than dawn. The fact that feathers actually dissolve in tide detergent if left in for an extended period of time shouldn't have any impact should it.
Colored dish detergents have never been my forte.
...nor do I play one on t.v. But, I would suspect "harshness" (what does that even mean in the context of things?) and grease-cutting abilities are two different animals. Otherwise, you wouldn't have SO MANY people recommending the Dawn...
