Please give me some feedback on my first goose.

I just put together my first goose mount and my 3rd ever mount. It is a blue goose in the cupped/feet out sideways position.. The pic is not all that good and i think it looks better in person..The carding and everything is still on the bird and would appreciate any feedback or help that would make my mount better..
the link to the pic is

Wait till the bird is dry, remove all your carding and get us a better picture.

Chad are you going for a landing pose? If so to me I think the wings should be back not forward. It looks as though the wing will hit the ground b4 the feet. Then again Im far from being a pro but just telling you what I see.

pose

Not really a "landing" pose but kind of a "dropping air" pose with the bird sideways...I call it the "Oh ¢rap" pose...kind of like what they do when they are getting ready to land but you pop our of the blind before they get down...lol

Looks good

I agree looks great for your third mount ever. The one thing you could do for a more realistic foot is give it a cupped appearance. They use their feet for navigation and when the wind is smashing against them they look a little more curved or cupped. Try using wet potters clay on the bottoms of the feet . The clay will hold whatever shape you like and you just break it out after about three to five days depending on how everything is drying.keep it up and keep asking questions. Use lots of reference to help you!

For your first goose it looks good. One thing I noticed was where the wings start to go into the body.Look at as many ref. photos as you can.Ask someone who has done a few birds to show the flight webbing. As the one person said the clay works great on the feet.Good job keep after it.

Great!

Your bird looks great! As for improvements, I would stretch the wings out a little more (show them off!) and push the feet down and towards the tail a little. Your head looks wonderful! Good goose:o)

i agree

i agree with Becky pull those wings out a little bit more. And there feet arnt really spread out untill they hit the ground.(look at some reference and see that they acutally lay down and to the side, not out.)also there is too much under wing showing. push those secondary fethers back some." i will give you credit though. that goose looks great for a first goose. i cant tell really, but it looks like you did a great job on the eyes as well. looks 50 times better than my first goose. keep doing them they will only get better."

( remember look at lots of reference )
