I'm English so please forgive the question and I am also ignorant of the specifics of US legislation. I did read however that you can have non-game birds mounted as long as they are "pen raised". What does this mean. Raised specifically for taxidermy or species owned by Bird Collectors that just happen to die of natural causes / disease.
Therefore if birds of prey and owls, songbirds, waders and non game species are pen raised they can then be mounted.
Her in the UK wild birds found dead beside roads can be mounted, without question. Only when you wish to sell such items then licences may apply. We have, what appears to be a much larger trade in non-game birds then you guys in the USA. I would be interested to know what is meant by pen raised and is there a list of what can be collected.
Sincerest thanks for your time
