Canada Geese

A little off the subject, but I know you guys are knowledgable. I live in South Louisiana and in the winter we have tons of speklebellys (whitefronted), snows, blues and ross geese but no canada geese. This fall I will be making a freelance trip to Saskatchewan for waterfowl. When it comes to decoy spreads, are Canada geese more like speklebellys were you only need 3-6 decoys or like snows were you need 1000's of decoys. I have seen hunts on TV were the hunters are using a couple dozen decoys for the canadas. Since any canada decoys I buy will only be used on this trip and future trips to Canada, I want to get away with buying the smallest amount of Canada decoys that I can. Thanks to anyone that replys and sorry for getting off the subject of taxidermy.

You don't need the large spreads like snows...but wouldn't you be money ahead to book a guided hunt cmpt. w/decoys?

For canadas I would recomend...
feild hunting 2-6 dozen shells + 2-4 dozen signs
on water 2-4 dozen floaters
throw in a few spinners for either set up for some mallard shooting

The more decoys the better(I don't feel you need 100+) for each but I wouldn't go out and drop a ton of money. I free lance North Dakota I don't think you'll need a guide in Saskatchewan.

Go to www.davesmithdecoys.com and read all the good stuff on goose decoys. I started using thier decoys [3 dozen] and call much less and tripled my success. Give them a try!
