Wing preservation

I am interested in perserving only a wing for 'Talking Feather' purposes. It's an owl wing. How can I preserve it so that I can later cover the base with leather?

...don't know anything, so detailed info appreciated. Please email me.

Thanks, Bev

Only because you are in Canada.

If you can remove as much flesh as possable. Then give the skin, bone and flesh a healthy coat of "Borax". Let it dry and you are good to go.
BTW. Next time just leave the whole "Owl" part out of it. You will get slamed on this site becuase they are protected.

Thanks Joe.

For those who might be concerned about the owl, I wanted to clarify... I'm in Canada. It was picked up on the side of the road, tragically hit by a car. The Ministry of Natural Resources were contacted to report the find.
