Question on a pheasants skin?

Just wondering if a pheasants skin gets thicker in the fall than in summer months. I just skinned one and it was pretty paper thin.

Thanks for any Info,

James

Nope, it's the same all the time

Only the fat underneath changes and the molt insulates in more in winter.

How can molt insulate?

Plumage is the feathers, molt is the action of loosing the feathers. (Someone has to give you a hard time George, it always seems that no one ever picks on you - LOL)

LOL But I'd ASSUMED that the person would realize that POST-molt feathers would be thicker (not in the sense of numbers or mathematics, but more richer and fuller, i.e. NEWER) when they came back in than the old ones were before they fell out. Birds usually molt before the winter so they can fluff their feathers up to insulate themselves from the cold and wind.
