I have done about 15 ducks over the past 3 years mostly as a hobby, I've lately been having a problem, 3 of the ducks I've done have gotten some form of bug in the mounts and the one mount was one of the first ones I did over 3 years ago. I am not sure what the bugs are cause the people all got rid of the duck before I could inspect it but from what they told me they were small worm like bugs. I had a friend of mine venture a guess that they were possibly bole weevils which get in corn, and using the corn cob grit to tumble dry the skins I thought it was possible. I have done nothing different with any of the ducks and the first few I did are all in fine condition yet some of my latest work which looked far better than my first attempts are falling apart.

YOu need to dust them and clean anything off with lacquer thinner.
Next take a large cardboard (frig box)box, seal the leaks and spray a very heavy concentration of any good bug spray. Dont spray it directly on the mounts, spray it on one end of the inside of the box.
Dont breath this crap it is poison! There are oils in the big spray, so this can harm the mounts, reason for not spraying the mounts. Seal and allow it to do its job overnight.
Be sure to wash your arm or use a nitrile glove and make a sleeve for you arm out of plastic bags and duct tape.
After even a couple days in the sealed , sprayed box that should kill all the larva and adults.
This is from a person that works for Termin ex, how they handle the problems.

There are lots of explanations that may help you. If you leave it it will get worse and destroy all the ducks
