just had too tell you guys about my scouting story for geese that's got me excited for opening day. I live in michigan and i found a little pasture pond that had around 300-400 canada geese on it. To my suprise there were 5 egiptian geese on it. I have never seen any before and from research they are very far and few between. After viewing referance photos of real and live birds these match up hand in hand. They are not banded and no primaries are cut beacuse they fly with canadas. I talked to the farmer and he said that he noticed them about a week ago but had never seen these before on his farm. Any one ever shot or seen any in Michigan? Or in that case any were in the USA. I am just a little curious.

I know of a taxidermist that took 4 in last year. In each case they were flying with Canadas. I have seen them once in a while in my area with resident Canadas. Not being native to NA there are no restrictions on them. I have heard of more of them being taken by hunting in recent years as well as increased sightings from people that actually know what they are. That may be an indicator of small feral populations beginning to form but who knows? They may end up being like mute swans. Nevertheless an interesting bird.

they have great personalities, very aggressive and opinionated.
I believe they pair for life. many zoos keep them with large herd animals if you ever need reference photos for mounting.
