Brian, I degrease with a wire wheel. I then rinse in hot water to clear off any loose fat and grease. Back to the wheel for final clean up and rinse. I use white wash and dawn to clean left over grease and blood out of plumage and skin. Wash very well looking for pellet holes where blood has gotten into down etc... My best, Jim

what about coleman fuel or solvent degreaser a wire wheel and soap isnt enough to get all the grase out especially from a canadian, speaking from expierence. Is the fuel used first and then washed or oppisite.

Should have no problem getting the blood out. If it is caked on there put some Dawn derectly on the spot and wire brush it out(gently).

wheel and wash

I work at a shop where we do all kinds of fat ducks and yes even canadas. first you wheel it "well" and then wash it inside and out, rinse many times with WARM water and the soak in white gas. the white gas only forces water out of feathers for quicker dry time. this works on most every bird.
