Got a gadwal head from Joe F .skinned the bird washed it went to put it together. found it was way to big . Checked it when it was skinned was the same size , do you ever put a cut in the head skin to make them fit , If so whats the best place to do so..

Hey Al. If the form is too big for the head just cut a small incesion right behind the ears opening, on the no show or wall side of the mount, this way when you sew it up you will not see the incesion if, but most of the time if you are careful you can sew it and cover it up pretty well .
AL,before I would make any cuts in the skin I would try to dremel the head down it may not take much.It would be good for you to learn to cast your own heads,I cast all my own on every bird and I never have a problem.Hope this helps. Gary
I make my cut near the lower mandible on the non show side of the head. I noticed that too, that Joe F. Gadwell head is a bugger to fit...Same with the Green Wing Teal...Like said earier, you can dremel it down a little and that should help!
