Does anyone out there have any good ways to clean blood off of bird skins. I have a goldeneye drake that has blood on the white down feathers and no matter what I try I can't get it completely clean with soap and water. I have not tried a commercial blood remover but that is the next step. I'm sure there has to be a household thing I can try.

rust stain remover.. Brown bottle white top.. sold with the liquid plumber at Wal-mart. works like a charm

I usually get er done with Whinks, but sometimes I get a stubborn bird and then I use 30% peroxide like you use for bleaching skulls. Pour it on and rub it in (wear gloves) let it sit about 1-2 min and rinse out with cold water.
All you need is a lil dawn dish washing soap and COLD water to get the blood outta the white feathers..
That's all I've had to use on any bird with blood on the feathers .......JUST MAKE SURE IT IS COLD WATER OR YOU WILL SET THE BLOOD INTO THE FEATHERS

I always make sure to use cold water only but this one just won't come clean. I think I will try the whinks. I just need to know if you apply that directly to the spot or wash the skin in it. Thanks again.
you have to make sure you have scrubbed all the big stuff off. Whinks will not remove crusted blood, rather it will make it curdle almost.. But I have never seen crusted blood that couldn't be washed away with a little caoxing. Whinks will only remove the residual staining left behind after you washed the majority away. It is also good for remvoing rust stains from birds that were swimming in iron rich waters.
On dingy birds, I usually let them soak in a water/winks mix.. for about 30 minutes and it brightens them right back to good as new. Otherwise, I just squirt a little directly on the stain.. It usually removed the stain instantly.

I think what everyone is getting at is that its probably rust and thats why they are telling you to use Whinks. I to have never seen blood that wouldnt come off with soap and water. Dried on crusty stuff is dificult but not impossible. If its rust whinks will take almost all of it off, and in most case all of it.
