dried up duck feet

I have a few ducks in the freezer to mount that have some pretty bad feet. I thawed them out and tried to inject the feet with water to help rehydrate and everytime I tried to insert the needle the skin would break apart. Are these birds worth the trouble to mount or should I scrap them.Any info would be helpful.

I would disconnect them from the bird after you skin it out and put them in a cup for a day or so with stop rot. I have used it on really bad feet and it helped alot! You might want to just buy some fake legs, I never used them but they might be the ticket.
Good luck!

Take some Van Dyke's Ultra Soft and mix it with water or just try water first. Drop a wash cloth in the solution. Ring it a bit so its not dripping. Wrap the legs/feet with the cloth. Wrap plastic wrap around the wash cloth and stick the bird in the refrigerator. Check it 2 - 4 days later and the feet will usually have rehydrated.
