Is there a good way to preserve, position, and keep the comb of a ptarmigan looking natural? I find it difficult to card or position such a nonsymetrical part. Thanks

split the comb just like you would a pheasant wattle or lips on a deer. You can then fill it with a little clay and position and keep checking it as the mount dries. You can also cut a terry cloth towel to fit the comb then paint it and attatch to the original comb, if it's not full looking enough.
