Hey I was wondering if there is any thing that can make fleshing thick greesed birds easyer. I.e. can you cross cut the fat and wash the bird in dawn first, before you start the wheel? I never have a problem with thin or lightly greesed birds but the few with a 1/16th or 1/8th of greese I seam to blow a few holes in. thanks for any help. Jim

but it works for me. Coat the skin side in Dawn and leave it overnight in the fridg. I pour a puddle and smear by hand, let set overnight and wire wheel the next day. Really busts the fat up and makes wheelin' easier for me. Some might not agree but...

I use a spray bottle and spray the fat area's constantly with water while I'm on the wheel! It helps a little...I might have to try the soaking of Dawn method though...I'm sure my wife will love having a soapy bird next to her salad!

I have been trying to figure out a good way to flesh turkeys on the wheel. I have found that spraying water on the skin while wheeling does work. I still need to find some tips on getting the back feather quills separated and the slime of the jelly sack. Does anyone know of any tips on the jelly? Besides puttin it on toast! hahaahaa. As far as borax being used, it helps a little in some spots. I may use a half of cup of borax when fleshing a turkey. Most of it is being used cleaning the wing bones after my incisions on the underneath of the wings. e-mail me on your tips. I'm gonna have to try the Dawn too, Rick. Thanks Guys and Ladys.
