Sorry to hear your pet died!
Now here is what you need to do
1 Ring the neck until you tear the birds skin!
2 Try if possible to break the wing bones and the legs too while you are at it. JUST KIDDING!
Now in all seriousness this is what most taxidermists get from the hunting community. What you seriously need to do is double bag the bird and freeze until you find a good taxidermist. As far as shipping goes send it UPS three day guaranteed on a Monday and it will make it just fine. I pack frozen birds in insulation if you by any chance have it. If not, an ice pack in a box filled with Styrofoam peanuts will add the insulation and cold you will need.
Best of luck

Hi Vicki, I too am sorry your bird died. You need to thaw the bird out. Once it is thawed out tuck the head under a wing. Slide the bird from the front in a pair of panty hose if you have any. Then wrap tightly in a plastic bag and tape shut. Then wrap again in a plastic bag and tape shut. What you want is all the air out of the bags. Put the bird back in the freezer and call a taxidermist. Your taxidermist will give you advice on the best method of shipping if shipping is necessary.
Hope that helps,
John
If your going to have the bird mounted Vicki, I justed wanted too recommend Brad Laaker in Godfrey Illinois. He's mounted numerous birds for me and his work is unbeleivable. His website is Bradsbirds.com and one look and you'll agree.
Thanks for the information on the bird. No I plan on selling him, that's another question. Where, how much ect.... I'm glad a friend sent me this site.
Sell your bird here in the for sale forums. A live rooster usually will sell for $125. 125 would be a reasonable price for a taxidermy specimen. But that is if the bird is in good condition like...If the bird is fully plumed or has no pin feathers, apears to have all of his feathers (especially wing and tail)... and if chest, tail, and wing feathers, or any feathers, are not rubbed from being in a small pen. Did he look absolutely perfect before he died? Did his death cause him loose feathers? Search him over one more time and decide exactly what his condition is. Aslo if you ship the bird I would consider shippng USPS priority mail. They deliver within 2-3 days and there rates are much lower that UPS. Double bag, and pack him good in a box. Make sure you send him frozen rock hard. The buyer will need his phone number on the package so the postal worker can call the buyer as soon as the bird arrives. Also, whether you ship UPS or USPS, always ship on a monday or tuesday. This will prevent the bird from rotting at a warehouse over the weekend.
Vicki, I've been looking for a nice Male Temminick's for some time.If he's in good shape I'd give you $130-$150.00 for him.E-mail me and let me know.
Sucks loosing a pet.Joe V that two liner is the funniest thing I've read in ages still laughing, must be my sick sense of humor but thats hilarious.Again sorry bout the bird.
forget the panty hose idea john gave you...you must keep loose wrapping around a bird,I dread everytime I get a bird some hunter has slipped into panty-hose.frayed and roughed up feathers that may not fluf back out, espesially with an upland bird....ducks can be a little better
