How long is too long?

I brought a drake Mallard to a taxidermist in the fall of 2004 and still have not recieved the duck? She said it would be 8-12 months, which I was ok with. After 12 months passed I called her and felt I got the run around. She said it was all ready and preped and the body was ordered and it would be a couple weeks, that was over another month ago. Sorry I'm rambling on, just feeling I got hosed and hoping my duck isn't gone forever. For those of you that get back to your clients in a good timely manner....A big Thank You.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Way to long for your Mallard

At alot of taxidermy shops that do everything (deer, fish , mammals, turkeys, etc), they get very busy, and it seems birds get thrown on the back burner before anything else. Maybe your taxidermist doesnt like to do birds, and is putting them off as long as possible. A little over a year is about the lenght of time a busy shop takes to get your work done. I beleive you will get your duck in due time, so I wouldnt worry about it. Next time when you go to get a duck done, go to somebody who specializes in birds. I do birds only, and my turnaround time is about 4 months.

maybe she wholesaled it out and she hasn't gotten it back from the wholesaler. I know a few guys that have a 12-18 month turn around that only do birds, but they are upfront about it, the key is keeping your customer informed.
