Few years ago I had a redhead mounted,it looked good when I brought it home, then few days later at the incision line I seen a red line,it looked and felt like glue.I called the guy who done it and he said he didn't know what happened.
He had mounted a few ducks and a deer before for me and did a good job.
My question is Would there any way of removeing it with out messing up the mount? its still kind of sticky after all this time,Is there is any that could be used to remove it and would it discolor the breast feathers or do anything to the inside of the mount to allow the incision line to open or pull apart.
I'm just starting to learn taxidermy and don't want to make this kind of mistake myself one day.I've done a lot of reading on this site with the help of the orange button. I'm doing a diving duck (Bluebill) for my first one because of the thicker skin.I have my Breakthrough book and studying it.I have a kit and waiting on the video's.
Would there being any other helpful bits of info anyone might be
able to give a newbie? do's or don'ts thanks terry

Sounds like the duck was not greased properly.
degreased not greased sounds as if it were greasy enough LOL
I was taught year ago to: Set the eye in clay or epox, invert the skin right side out, then position the lid. Is this how you folks do it, or are you setting after the inversion
You can use either method to set the eyes. I like to set them before pulling the skin back over the skull, but it helps to learn both ways. Whichever way you are most comfortable with is the way for you!

thanks michael,OJ,Becky for the tips I will try both ways and see what works best for me.
I think that Michael might be right,Do any of you think that I might be able to take some dawn dish liquid and lightly wash the incision line to get rid of some of the grease I know it will probally come back, how long do any of you think it will leak? so far it hasn't got any bigger after all this time.
