well............. you asked.......

It has the look that I complain alot of brids. It looks as though it was thrown against the wall splat- wings and tail flat against the wall.If you get the bird away from the wall, you can rotate the body a bit, and get the wings in a more natural position, and add a little cup to them.

The wattles could be a bit bigger, more filled out and formed.

The photo is a bit small on my screen, but the feather tracks could use some grooming.

At least the head is in a level plane. Almost all birds almost always fly with the head level and true, except for a glance here and there.

The photo doesnt really give a good look. I am NO judge so take my comments with a grain of salt. Some reference would be nice, but FLYING upland reference is hard to come by.

If this is your first rooster- bravo. If you have been doing it ten years- well....

well...

the bird doesn't appear to have been dried well (after wash)

also, try taxiing the skin more forward

good luck

You shouldn't be doing work for a pay customer... If this was for practise and a friend then its fine..

Keep trying..

aint to bad. ive seen worse and know taxidermists who've been in business 10 years and charge 175.00 for a mount that looks the same.dont be pissed on what these guys are saying they just think there perfect. most of there birds looked that way when they started, but now there ego is just to big. keep up the work and have a fun at it.later

thanks for the feedback

i appreciate the feedback. I probably should start by saying that this bird was shot at a game farm and was full of pin feathers, so it was not the best speciman to work with. Second of all it is for a friend that is a customer of mine and i want him to be happy. I will tell him that he is not happy then i will do him another one.

Thanks for the input,

Ryan

im with OJ about the pose

This response submitted by jj on 1/18/06 at 1:22 PM. ( ) 65.29.2.231

but that has always bugged me. And I know that a bird in flight could probably achieve that exact pose , but it looks unnatural. I know it saves space when it is put on a wall. A lot of people do flying birds like that, and like I say it is personal preference, but to me , birds in that pose always look like they were splayed out and nailed to the wall.
