I am looking at the following kit from Van Dykes for my first pheasant. My question is, does it contain everything needed to mount a ringneck pheasant? I do not see any type of preservative listed.
1) This kit contains a Danny Owens' "Masters Series" Body, wire, tow, clay, eyes plus the Danny Owens' Video.
or is this kit better (even though it does not contain the video:
2) Included in kit: body, wire, borax, eyes, eye set, thread, neck material and complete instruction
Thank you for all of your help.

If this is your first bird get the video, you can get borax from the store.
or atleast what is standard issue when it comes to bird preservative.

The Danny Owens Masters kit is a good deal, the video set is worth the $30 alone. My best pheasant so far was done with the $15 kit, although you will need a little tow/filler for around the neck junction and legs. cotton balls or paper towels work fine. the one size of wire in the cheaper kit is strong enough for an ostrich, the masters kit has several different wire sizes. for the first timer i would say the danny owens kit is better.
