I took in a fan and beard the other day, the gentleman wants them on a plaque (no problem). The fan was salted 3 years ago and put in a box. It is in really good shape just dry. Can I rehydrate with salty water then dp?

Soak them up any way till you can pull or be able to release the feathers. Remove all the feathers from the skin, wash them and dry them.
From there you can lay out the tail first on a flat board. I place a piece of either heavy plastic like plexi glass or metal behind the feathers. From there set your tail fan up and you can hot glue that row together, then take the next tarck of feathers and do the same. Now on turkeys the next row of tail feathers go the oppiste way of teh way the tail feathers are laid out. (tail the last feather of the tail is laid down first and then the next covers it, the next row starts in the center of the tail and those feathers are laid on top of the the center ones). Then you can hot those in place and so forth.
Doing it this way will say you more time than you think and you'll end up with a bug free tail mount.
