I read the post from a few days ago about getting corn cob grit from a pet store sold as "bedding". I checked the local pet store, and the bedding from corn cobs is about the size of kitty litter. the guy there told me that they dont sell it groung finely because it is not good for pets. My question...How fine does the corn cob need to be for tumbling birds...is the kitty litter sized stuff fine enough, or does it need to be closer to dust?

To use that size it will work fine. We have used it for a couple of years But you could ask him to special order you a 50 lb bag of fine grade put out by Sun Seed company. The fine is better with birds.

The problem I've foud with the really fine grit is that it tends to really stick in the primaries and is tough to get all of it out. The larger size doesn't stick in the feathers.
