I recently tried the pre-made wood duck eyerings. Well I installed them on an artificial head and proceeded with mounting, only to find out that the eyehole would not stretch over them. Is there a secret to this?

The plastic eyerings do not look as good as making them with epoxy- sculpt. It will take some work to get them correct the first time or two but once you get it down they look great. Just e-mail me and I will tell you how I do mine.
Now you have to read ALL of this posting. FIRST step: Order a set of Flex eyes for the wood duck. TWO: Throw away the plastic eyes and the little foam rubber spacers. THREE: With your Dremel tool and a fine grinding straight tip, carve away the entire back side of the Flex Eye. FOUR: Buy a pair of #8 red eyes from Tohickon or Van Dykes. FIVE: Dremel the eye capsule so that the #8 eye sets correctly in the capsule. SIX: Put a thin layer of Apoxie sculpt in the eye socket of your artificial head. Press the eye down and then the ring over it so that the bases of both the eye and the ring seat against the head. Let cure. SEVEN: Mount as usual and slip the fleshy eyering UNDER the Flex Eye capsule ring. EIGHT: Super glue the skin to the bill and you're finished.
The next equally good option is to order the heads and eye capsules from Anthony Eddy Studio.
That is exactly how I do it.
What you will want to do is cut off the original eye rings. This will give you more room to manipulate the skin. You will also not have to deal with trying to hide and tuck the original eye ring. I use a pair of small curved sissors. I believe they are used to trim cuticals (sp). Keep your skin moist so you have the best control. Good luck.
