I am pretty new to the industry and have never mounted a quail. I got a couple in,is there anything i need to do or not to do diffrent than say a pheasent or duck? I generaly wash the bird with soap, degrease in mineral spirits, blow dry low heat, use wire in the wings and feet.Is ther any precautions I need to take doing quail the same way?
all feedback is appreciated,

wash the little fellow if possible-use a small wire brush to degrease-d.p.-no side cut in head-clean skull--dp-clay, eyes & rock & roll with him!

I wash all my quail, lightly wire wheel, and also use a small brass wire brush on delicate areas. Dry the bird on cool setting so feathers do not distort and the skin doesn't dry out. Some references show tight feathers when the birds were photograghed when alarmed. A relaxed quail will have no flat areas which will require fill to create. Good luck.
