I have done quite a few birds, but never had one with so many pin feathers. most of them are on the belly and neck but I'm afraid they are all going to fall out. Is there anything that can be done to keep them from falling out?

ONE.
but in reality, if it will affect the finished product...pass on the project. whether the mount looks good or not, it will still have your name attatched to it.
It depends on the species. Canvasbacks shot in January in Texas...Still have a lot of them. Some birds you just have to work around them!
this is a late season mallard I shot on 1-27-06, It has at least 100-200 pin feathers, mostly on the belly and neck. will they eventualy fall out or if I'm careful, will they stay in? I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time trying to mount this bird if it is just going to fall apart. Any advise on how to clean this bird? I don't use a wire wheel, I scrape all my birds with a scalple.
Even if they stay in, it won't look good. BP
