i raise flying pigeons and was wondering are they good birds for mounting, i want to try mounting a bird this summer and wondered if they would be a good bird for a beginer, do they have tough skin, are they greasy, any help would be appreciated, thanks

They would be excellent birds for practice.
Just got done mounting 2. Great birds to mount. Skins are fine on these birds. Just go ahead and do it.Everything will be fine. Just take your time.I did a perched one and a flying one. I have 10 more to mount for myself.

Soft in the skin and have feather bloom so that if they are washed, they look like crap.
Besides that, if you wish to sell them, who wants them.
Buy yourself some nice ornamental Roosters for 5 bucks a pop, you can be as rough as as hell on the skinning, do the whole box and dice skin, clean, wash and dry routine on them, and after your done they can be sold for pretty good bucks
The only draw back is the wattles and combs, but once you have the mounting sorted, move into the head casting practice and make repros.
